Card Details

Decan Ruler (Venus): With Venus in Scorpio, this is about the painful but ultimately regenerative process of letting go of emotional fixations, and this involves tearing apart and reconstructing the body of desire. Liberation arises as new growth springs from the soil of yesterday’s desires; without the ability to surrender those desires and transform them back into pure energy, one remains bound to what was once dearly cherished. There is a process of separating one’s desire from the person or thing to which it was once attached, a dissolution of desires back into their raw essence. This decan represents the death and rebirth process with regards to one’s emotional attachments, where each desire laid to rest is becomes a seed planted in the earth, destined to grow into something new. Those with Venus in this decan possesses an uncanny ability to draw the people and circumstances they want toward them. These attractions arise from beneath the surface of awareness.

Sign (Scorpio): The third decan of Scorpio represents the alchemical process of separating desire from the person or thing to which it was once attached. The person or object of one’s desires may be absent, yet the longing persists. In some ways, it echoes the solitude and yearning found in the first decan of Scorpio—but with a crucial distinction. In the first decan of Scorpio, the desire was seeking union; here, the desire is moving away from union, seeking fulfillment not in the form once imagined. The fleeting cloud of fantasies must be fully recognized as one’s personal creation. True understanding of the nature of desire arises only when it is disentangled from all external objects of longing.
